Joseph J. Popp

Birch Run, MI

Passed away peacefully with family by his side Thursday, December 19, 2024 at his home after a brief illness; age 67 years. Joe was born on June 26, 1957 in Saginaw, MI to Joann and the late James Popp. He was married to Kay Bryce on October 6, 1979; she survives him.

Joe was employed by Operating Engineers Local 324, Champagne and Marx Excavating, and later retired as a foreman from Saginaw County Road Commission. He also poured concrete on the side during his working career. Joe was a member of Ss. Francis and Clare Parish in Birch Run and was a former member of Bridgeport Gun Club. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and his many trips to Canada. He also enjoyed deer camp with his sons every year.

Surviving besides his wife Kay and mother Joann are: two sons, Josh (Jennifer) Popp of Birch Run and James (Erica Gale) Popp of Birch Run; two grandchildren, Aria and Emalyn; brothers-in-law Gene, Kevin, Brian and Keith Bryce; sister-in-law Karen Traub; many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and close friends; and two dogs, Lilly and C.J.

Besides his father James, Joe was preceded in death by his son Joel "Jojo" Popp, brother-in-law Dennis Bryce, niece Lisa Bryce, and father-in-law and mother-in-law Eugene and Helen Bryce.

Funeral service will take place on Monday, December 30, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. at Ss. Francis and Clare Parish, 12157 Church St. Birch Run, MI. Fr. David Jenuwine will officiate with burial to follow in Assumption Blessed Virgin Mary Cemetery.  Joe's family will receive visitors at Cederberg Funeral Home of Frankenmuth, 590 N. Franklin St. on Sunday, December 29th from 1:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. and on Monday, December 30th at the church from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.
