Junior Herman Maurer

Vassar, MI

Junior Herman Maurer of Vassar passed away peacefully at his home on Saturday, April 4 ^th , 2020. The home where he had been born 93 years ago on October 31, 1926 to the late Florence (Koeppendoerfer) and Herman J. Maurer. He was married to his beloved Lorine Loesel for 68 years, at St. Lorenz Lutheran Church, where he was a lifetime member.

Junior worked on the family farm for most of his life which he dearly loved. He worked for Star of the West Milling Co. in Richville for 18 years, until his retirement in 1989. He loved music, both listening to polka music and playing his accordion. He enjoyed playing cards with family and friends, bowling, fishing in Caseville, surveying the farm and garden in his golf cart, and spending time with his family. He was known for his quick wit and sharp sense of humor which will be greatly missed.

Surviving besides his wife, Lorine, are 3 children Ronald (Julie) Maurer of Ann Arbor, Gerald (Christine) Maurer of Frankenmuth, and Katherine (Ronald) Frank of Shields. Junior had 5 grandchildren Heather (Dennis) Lupca, Molly Nix, Jamie (Ryan) Defer, Kyle (Stacie) Maurer, Jason (Britttney) Maurer; 9 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandson.

Junior was preceded in death by 1 sister Marion Reinert.

Because of previous COVID-19 restrictions, a special memorial service and celebration of Junior's life will now place on Saturday, August 1, 2020 at St. Lorenz Lutheran Church starting at 11:00 A. M. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider a donation to St. Lorenz Lutheran Church or a charity of their choice. Arrangements entrusted to Cederberg Funeral Home of Frankenmuth.
