Kenny L. Poellet

Kenny Lawrence Poellet, age 84, of Frankenmuth passed away on April 28, 2023 after a brief illness. Kenny was born to the late Lawrence and Wilma Poellet on October 9, 1938. He was confirmed in 1952 at St. Lorenz Lutheran Church. Kenny graduated from Arthur Hill High School in 1956 and then enlisted in the United States Navy where he was stationed in Newfoundland. He married Barbara (Buerkel) Poellet on September 22, 1962; Barbara pre-deceased him on August 18, 2021.

Kenny worked at Saginaw Steering Gear in the experimental lab as a tool and die maker. He retired in 1994 after 29 years. He then drove and delivered cars for Schaefer and Bierlein for many years. Kenny and Barb enjoyed camping and fishing with friends and family for many years then enjoyed the winter months in Arizona for over 15 years. Kenny's passion was shooting trap, skeet and sporting clays. He was rated in the state of Arizona as a top marksman for sporting clays for his age group. He also enjoyed riding his motorcycle till the age of 80.

Kenny was involved in many civic organizations including the Frankenmuth Mounted Police, past president for the Frankenmuth Conservation Club and the American Legion Post 150. He also helped organize the Fox Club. One of his most enjoyable activities was teaching hunter safety and in 2015 received recognition from the State of Michigan Department of Natural Resources for more than 40 years of being a Michigan Hunter Education Instructor. He taught multiple generations of kids including both his sons, daughter, and grandson. Kenny also proudly raised the American flag at the Frankenmuth High School home football games for many years.

Kenny is survived by his three children and one grandson. Dean Poellet, Vassar; Dellet Poellet, Frankenmuth (friend Roy LaDrig); Dale Poellet and fiancée Karen McKimmy both of Frankenmuth and his grandson Andrew Poellet, Frankenmuth. He is also survived by his brother Danny (Kathy) Poellet, Florida, as well as grand-puppies Mitza and Maggie.

Funeral Service will take place on Thursday, May 4, 2023 at 11:00 AM at St. Lorenz Lutheran Church, 1030 W. Tuscola, Frankenmuth, Michigan. Cremation to follow. Kenny's family will receive visitors at Cederberg Funeral Home on Wednesday from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and Thursday at the church from 10:00 a.m. until time of service. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to Frankenmuth Schools FOX Club, American Legion Post 150, or St. Lorenz Lutheran Church.
