Lavern W. “Diamond” Schiefer

Frankenmuth, MI

Passed away on Wednesday, September 30, 2026; age 76 years. Diamond was born on November 1, 1949 to the late Richard and Hilda Schiefer. He was married to Marlys Raedeke on July 7, 1973 at St. Lorenz Lutheran Church; she survives him.

Diamond was employed by Star of the West Milling Co. for 44 years. He was a lifelong member of St. Lorenz Lutheran Church and a faithful member of the men’s bible class. He enjoyed polka music and traveled to many polka festivals. Diamond was a proud supporter of University of Michigan athletics, loved playing Euchre, gardening, and reading.

Surviving besides his wife Marlys are: children Neil Schiefer of Pontiac, MI, Nathan (Staci) Schiefer of Columbus, IN, and Natalie (Brandon) Chmiko of Marquette, MI; grandchildren Abbi, Drew, Sydni, Annika, and Zoë Schiefer; sisters Lucille (George) Roenicke, Irene (Merton) Roberts, Mariann Goodwin and Margie (Mike) Rodammer; brothers Leonard (Renee) Schiefer and Richard Schiefer; sister-in-law Judith (James) Block; and brother-in-law Henry (Susan) Raedeke.

Diamond was preceded in death by brothers-in-law Jerry Goodwin, Carl Buetow, and George Bauer and sisters-in-law Sylvia Buetow, Delores Bauer, and Virginia Counselman.

Funeral Service will take place on Wednesday, October 7, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Lorenz Lutheran Church, 1030 W. Tuscola, Frankenmuth, Michigan. The Rev. Brad Hubbard will officiate. Diamond’s family will receive visitors at Cederberg Funeral Home of Frankenmuth, 590 N. Franklin St. on Tuesday from 3:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. and on Wednesday at the church from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to St. Lorenz Student Aid or St. Lorenz Altar Guild.
