Lawrence M. "Larry" Coopes

Frankenmuth, MI, also of Frostproof, FL, and East Tawas, MI

Passed away unexpectedly with his family at his side, Tuesday, June 19, 2018 at St. Mary's of Michigan; age 74 years. Lawrence was born on January 18, 1944 in Lansing, MI to the late Bill and Ethelind Coopes.   Larry graduated from Michigan State University in 1966 and later received his Master of Education. Larry was married to Janet on June 17, 1972, she survives him.

He was employed by Mayville Community Schools as an educator and was a member of Frankenmuth United Methodist Church.  Larry liked camping, reading, crossword puzzles and traveling.

Surviving besides his wife Janet are: Nicole and Dan Denton of Grand Blanc, MI, Angie Coopes of Vassar, MI, Marty and Jenn Coopes of Bay City, MI, and Will Coopes of Frankenmuth,MI. Three grandchildren, Josh and Zoe Denton and Oliver Coopes.

Funeral services will take place on Saturday, June 23, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at Frankenmuth United Methodist Church, 346 Vates St., Frankenmuth, Michigan.  Rev. Walter David will officiate with cremation to follow. Larry's family will receive visitors at Cederberg Funeral Home of Frankenmuth, 590 N. Franklin St. on Friday, June 22, 2018 from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and on Saturday at the church from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.
