Leona Schluckebier

Leona K. Schluckebier, of Milford, formerly of Frankentrost, passed away peacefully on January 22, 2026. She was 95 years old, and a humble, faithful, and proud follower of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

She was born in Saginaw County on March 30, 1930, to the late Adam and Hedwig (nee, Hammerbacher) Reinbold. Leona is survived by her children, Mary (John) Vukovich, Thomas (Donna) Schluckebier and David (Sunday) Schluckebier; daughter-in-law, Denise Schluckebier; many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews; also extended family and dear friends.

In addition to her parents, Leona is also preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Ralph Schluckebier, her son, Dr. Paul Schluckebier, her siblings and their spouses; Eric (Evelyn) Reinbold and Hildegard (Harvey) Rupp; and sister-in-law and brother-in-law Marie Weiss and Donald Weiss.

Leona grew up and raised her family within a mile of Immanuel Lutheran Church and School in Frankentrost where she sang in the choir, was active in Ladies Aid, volunteered in numerous capacities, and together with her husband, served as church custodian for many years. She was an administrative assistant in Saginaw prior to starting her family and then turned her attention to nurturing her four children and caring for her parents. Upon Ralph's retirement, the Schluckebiers moved to Commerce Township to be closer to grandchildren and made many new friends and were very active in Walled Lake Missionary Church. In her final years, Leona was a cherished and beloved resident of the Medilodge of Milford, where she spread her faith and love until her final breath.

Committal Service will take place on Saturday, January 31, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. at Eastlawn Memorial Gardens, Saginaw. Leona's family will receive visitors at Cederberg Funeral Home of Frankenmuth, 590 N.
