LeRoy R. Schluckebier

Went to his heavenly home Tuesday, March 22, 2022, at Covenant Glen of Frankenmuth; age 89 years. LeRoy was born on July 10, 1932, in Frankenmuth, MI to the late Alvin and Agnes (Schultz) Schluckebier. He was married to Virginia "Ginny" Morley on April 23, 1954; she predeceased him on June 8, 2014.

LeRoy honorably served in the United States Army and he was a lifelong farmer at the family farm near Richville. He was a lifelong, faithful member of St. Michael's Lutheran Church in Richville, where he was a very dedicated member of the Mixed Choir, sharing his God given talent as a soloist. He also held various offices at St. Michael's, notably he was the chairman of the 150 th Church Anniversary Committee. LeRoy was a past president of the Michigan Bean Commission, a member of the Sugar Beet Growers Association and of the Michigan Farm Bureau. He was also a skilled handyman, fixing anything and everything in his shop. LeRoy enjoyed traveling with his children, spending time with his family, and above all, he was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather.

Surviving are his children: Cindy Lou (Frank) Ramey of Knoxville, TN, Brian LeRoy (Hanne) Schluckebier of Copenhagen, Denmark, Heiki Lynn Palm of Vassar, MI, and Reneé Marie (William) Marsrow of Richville, MI; 12 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; brother Stuart (Elisabeth) Schluckebier; sister Diane (James) Karst; sisters-in-law Helga Schluckebier and Genevieve Morley; and step-siblings Pastor Arnold (Mary) Frank, Joann Frank, and Kathleen Frank.

Besides his wife of 60 years, Ginny, LeRoy was preceded in death by his son-in-law Clayton Palm; brothers Floyd (Inge) Schluckebier and Wallace Schluckebier; brothers-in-law Archie (Marian) Morley Jr. and Willard Morley; sister-in-law Violet (Mervin) Cole; step-father Walter Frank; and step-siblings Marwood Frank and Dorothy Thornton.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to the staff at Covenant Glen of Frankenmuth and Grace Hospice for their loving care of LeRoy.

Funeral service will take place on Monday, March 28, 2022, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Michael's Lutheran Church, 3455 S. Van Buren Road, Richville, Michigan.  Rev. Wesley Gillaspie will officiate with burial in St. Michael's Cemetery. LeRoy's family will receive visitors at Cederberg Funeral Home of Frankenmuth, 590 N. Franklin St. on Sunday from 12:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. and on Monday at the church from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to St. Michael's Lutheran Church Organ Fund.
