Obituary

Linda L. Humphrey

Surrounded by her family, Linda peacefully entered heaven on May 21, 2024. Age 73 years. Linda was born in Flint to Lewis and Genevieve (Korzon) Sanborn on July 17, 1950.

Linda and her family moved to Frankenmuth in 1955 before she began Kindergarten. She graduated from Frankenmuth High School in 1968. Linda was baptized in the Catholic faith and was later confirmed in the Lutheran faith when she became a member of St. Lorenz Lutheran Church in 1970. Linda worked various jobs in her life each of which gave her an opportunity to share her kindness and compassion with both customers and co-workers. Linda worked for her father at the Frankenmuth Cleaners and eventually took over the business. She also worked at the Frankenmuth IGA, Satow's, Quality Dry Cleaners, Eastgate Cleaners, and at Zehnder's of Frankenmuth as a cashier. Linda had beautiful penmanship and even had her own business, Writing for You.

Linda touched many lives with her tender-hearted thoughtfulness. Whether it was a baby quilt handmade with love, some of her famous baked beans, a special banana cream pie or her delicious chocolates, Linda was always eager to share with others. Family members and special friends were privileged to be the recipients of Linda's generosity.

Her children continued to be her pride and joy, but what made Linda's face light up like nothing else was her precious granddaughter, Eden. Linda was an avid Detroit Tigers fan and taught Eden at an early age to cheer "Goooo Tigers". Linda never missed a family reunion. She cherished those she loved.

Those blessed by Linda's life include her husband of 37 years, Howard Humphrey; children Scott (Jennifer DuBay) VanWormer and Shelley VanWormer; granddaughter Eden Linda VanWormer; sister Kathy (Jon) Zehnder; brother Todd (Jeanne) Sanborn; stepson Christopher Hammell; sister-in-law Darleen (Bruce) Lockhart; father of her children, Ed VanWormer (Gail Bielskis); many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

Linda was predeceased by her parents, Louie and Genny; sister, Jill Zehnder; father-in-law, Robert Humphrey; mother-in-law Marian Humphrey; sister-in-law Mary Ann Humphrey.

"I am now at home in heaven;

All's so happy, all's so bright!

There's perfect joy and beauty

In this everlasting light.

All the pain and grief are over,

Every restless tossing past;

I am now at peace forever,

Safely home in heaven at last."
