Loraine L. Veitengruber

Passed away on Friday, June 6, 2025, at Covenant Glen of Frankenmuth; age 94 years. Loraine was born on August 8, 1930, in Frankenmuth, Michigan, the daughter of William J. and Emilie Scherzer Veitengruber.

Loraine was baptized at St. Lorenz Lutheran Church on August 17, 1930, by Pastor Henry Voss. Her sponsors were Frieda Scherzer Weiss and Olga and Erma Veitengruber. She was confirmed at St. Lorenz on April 2, 1944; her confirmation verse was Psalm 27:1 (KJV). She graduated from Arthur Hill High School in 1948. After working for Michigan Bell Telephone Company for 11 years, in 1960 she joined the Foreign Service of the U.S. Department of State serving in the passport office in Washington, D.C., at U.S. Embassies in London, England and New-Delhi, India. In 1965 she returned to Washington, D.C., to work in the Department of State, retiring in 1993 as a Contract Specialist in the Office of Foreign Buildings Operations. After retirement she did volunteer work at Arlington Temple United Methodist Church until 2004, when she moved from Virginia to Frankenmuth and rejoined St. Lorenz Lutheran Church. Loraine also assisted in organizing the Art in the Embassies Program for the State Department whereby works of art by American artists are displayed in U.S. Foreign Service Posts throughout the world.

Loraine leaves behind her brother Willis (Sylvia) Veitengruber, nieces Jayne McMeans, Carla (Jerry) Roethlisberger, and Susan (Mike) Fresorger. She also leaves several great nieces and nephews and great-great nieces and nephews.

Loraine was preceded in death by her infant nephew, Neil Patrick Veitengruber.

Funeral Service will take place on Friday, June 13, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Lorenz Lutheran Church, 1030 W. Tuscola, Frankenmuth, Michigan. Loraine's family will receive visitors at the church on Friday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. In lieu of flowers, those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to St. Lorenz Media Ministry or St. Lorenz Vicar Fund.
