Louis
Laux
Jan 21, 1944 — Oct 12, 2023
Louis H. Laux
Frankenmuth, MI
Louis H. Laux went home to be with his Lord on Thursday, October 12, 2023, surrounded by his family at the age of 79 years. Louis was born in Saginaw on January 21, 1944. He was the son of Harold and Meta (Knoll) Laux of Frankenmuth. He married Loretta Reinert on August 17, 1968, and they have been together for 55 years. She survives him.
Louie valued his faith, his family and friends, and the family farm on which he worked his entire life. He was a lifelong member of St. Lorenz Lutheran Church, serving as an usher, deacon, and greeter for many years. He also assisted with cemetery duties.
Everyone who knew Louie will remember his love of life, his robust laugh, and his ability to joke and have fun. He enjoyed polka dancing, bowling, and many late evenings of euchre with friends. Starting at age 16, Louie helped run his family farm with his father, before taking it over full-time. While farming was his occupation, his passion was raising cattle, both for dairy and beef. He enjoyed the seasons of tilling and planting and harvesting in the fields. He also transported cattle for many farmers in his later years. He enjoyed working in his garden and shelling, and sharing his English walnuts with others, and could often be found working in the woods making firewood.
In addition to his wife, Louie is survived by two daughters, Lori (Kevin) Rockwell; and Linda (Richard) Schumacher and their children Wesley and Emma; two sisters, Kathy (John) Wilson; and Marilyn (Lloyd) Hecht; one brother, Mike (Connie) Laux; one sister-in-law, Virginia Osborn, and many beloved nephews, nieces, and their families. Louie was predeceased by his sister and brother-in-law, Eileen and Milton Rodammer, and a brother-in-law, Bob Osborn.
Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, October 17, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Lorenz Lutheran Church, 1030 W. Tuscola Street in Frankenmuth. Rev. Joel Kaiser will be officiating. Burial to follow in St. Lorenz Cemetery. Visitation will take place on Monday, October 16, 2023, at Cederberg Funeral Home of Frankenmuth, 590 N.
