Obituary

Lucille Carlson

Bridgeport, MI

Lucille passed away peacefully on Friday, February 10, 2023. She was born on December 5, 1934 in Elwell, MI to the late Henry Cliden Corl and Nellie (Baker) Corl. Lucille graduated from Alma High School in 1953. She married Richard (Dick) Carlson on August 22, 1954 at the Elwell Methodist Church. Lucille was a member of the Frankenmuth United Methodist Church for over 60 years where she participated in Sunday School, Women's Groups and sang in the choir.

She was a Girl Scout leader for many years for all age groups from Brownies through Senior Scouts and active as an adult leader in the Bridgeport Bethel of Job's Daughters. Lucille loved to sew and made everything from matching Easter outfits for the family, doll clothes and matching square dance outfits for her and Dick. She and Dick were active in both local and state square dance groups for over 30 years. They enjoyed travelling to state square dance conventions across the country, often accompanied by one of their grandchildren. For many years they owned and ran the 'Square and Round Shop' providing dance apparel to the area. She and her husband spent many winters in South Texas in the Rockport area. She enjoyed the beautiful winters, going to music shows, playing cards and mahjong, and spending time with her many friends from around the country. Lucille was an avid bird watcher and could identify almost any species seen in Michigan and had beautiful flower gardens.

Lucille is survived by her husband Richard/Dick Carlson 4 children: Linda (John) Hamilton - Gladwin, MI, Susan Carlson - Covington, Virginia, Rick (Dianne) Carlson - Bay City, MI, Carol (Scott) Couitcher - Saginaw, MI; 4 grandchildren: Kristopher (Jordan) Hamilton - McComb, Ohio, Jeremy (Amy) Hamilton - Lancaster, California, Amanda (Adam) Rochowiak - Madison, Alabama, April (Orlandus) Leonard - Saginaw, MI; 10 great grandchildren: Abigail and Katelyn Hamilton, Lillian Hamilton, Peyton, Hattie and Eleanor Rochowiak, Elijah Jernigan, Alexianna, Aalayah, and Alyssa Leonard, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
