Passed away peacefully with family by her side Saturday, April 5, 2025, at her home; age 89 years. Lydia was born on March 5, 1936, in Birch Run, MI to the late William and Mary Engelhardt. She was married to Eugene H. Dinse on May 2, 1953 at St. John's Lutheran Church, Frankenmuth.
After Lydia married Eugene, Lydia followed him to various locations while he served in the military. They bought their first house in Saginaw and started their family. She was a homemaker, waitress, caterer, and operated a cleaning service. She loved cooking/baking and entertaining for others. They moved to Frankenmuth in the early 70s and entertained family and friends at their house for many years. She was a loyal polka fan and enjoyed working at the Summer Music Fest and Oktoberfest. She was a lifelong member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Frankenmuth.
Surviving are; son David Dinse of Tennessee and daughter Dawn (John) Horst of Fenton, MI; two grandsons, Matthew Dinse and Justin Horst; very special great-granddaughter Lucy Dinse; sister Donna Cline, and many nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents Lydia was preceded in death by her husband, Eugene Dinse; brothers and sisters Elmer, George, Herb, Jim, Don, Martin, Herman, Doris, Peggy, Alvina, Esther, Charles and Delores, and many brother/sister -in-laws, and nieces and nephews.
Funeral service will take place Saturday, April 12, 2025, at noon at St. John's Lutheran Church, 1200 E. Genesee, Frankenmuth, Michigan. Rev. Patrick Ernst will officiate. Cremation to follow. Lydia's family will receive visitors at the church from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to St. John's Lutheran Church.
