Mabel "Boots" Zehnder of Frankenmuth, 103, died on 11/01/2022 in Tallahassee, Florida. She was born on February 17, 1919, in Frankenmuth, Michigan to Anna Matzke Auernhammer and Norman Auernhammer. On August 31, 1954, she married Leonard Zehnder. Together, Leonard and "Boots" were fortunate to have traveled extensively and lived in Michigan; Florida, Hawaii, and California, they chose Charlevoix, Michigan as their retirement home and lived there from 1982 until 2008. In 2008 they moved back to Frankenmuth, Michigan.

"Boots" enjoyed giving dinner parties, playing cards and games, walking, gardening, and flower arrangements. Mrs. Zehnder was a member of St. Lorenz Lutheran Church in Frankenmuth. She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Petoskey, Michigan, and Bethany Lutheran Church in Charlevoix for many years.

"Boots" is survived by one daughter, Amy Zehnder Walker (Keith) of Tallahassee, Florida; two grandchildren, Leonard (Michelle) Coughlin and Rory Coughlin. Two great grandchildren, Ella, and Tony Coughlin. In addition, she is survived by many nieces and nephews, step grandchildren and step great grandchildren.

She was predeceased by her husband, Leonard Zehnder; three siblings, Victor Auernhammer, Chester Auernhammer and Mildred "Mooney" Butcher.

A church service will be held at St. Lorenz Lutheran Church on Tuesday, May 30, 2023, at 11:00 am with visitation in the church lobby beginning at 10:30am. In lieu of flowers please make contributions to St Lorenz Lutheran Church or Big Bend Hospice of Tallahassee Florida.
