Margaret Wakefield

Frankenmuth, MI formerly of Indian River, MI

Passed away peacefully after battling cancer for three months on Monday July 4, 2022 at Covenant Glen; age 83 years.  Margaret Paxton was born on January 17, 1939 in Luton of Bedfordshire, England to the late Peter and Violet Paxton. She was married to Kenneth Wakefield on October 6, 1956; he predeceased her on October 11, 2021. Margaret was a member of Transfiguration Episcopal Church in Indian River, MI and the Inland Lakes Snowmobile Club. She also enjoyed quilting and gardening.

Surviving are three children, Daniel (Joy) Wakefield of Idaho, Karen Wedow of Burton, MI, and Kevin (Debbie) Wakefield of La Verkin, Utah; eight grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren; and one sister Eileen (Phil) Cohen.

Besides her husband Ken, Margaret was preceded in death by one granddaughter Amanda Wakefield; and two sisters and one brother: Shirley (Gordon) Tucker, Peter Paxton, and Brenda Wiper.

Funeral services will take place on Friday, July 8, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. at Cederberg Funeral Home of Frankenmuth, 590 N. Franklin Street, with burial to follow in Frankenmuth Township Cemetery. Margaret's family will receive visitors at the funeral home on Thursday from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and on Friday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to St. Jude Children's Hospital.
