Maria Auerbach

Frankenmuth, MI

Passed away peacefully Monday, January 24, 2022, at Bavarian Comfort Care after a lengthy battle with Dementia; age 89 years. Maria was born on September 14, 1932, in Despot Sv-Ivan, Yugoslavia to the late Florian and Susanna (Wolf) Horwath. She immigrated to the U.S. in 1956 with her sisters and family. Maria loved her large family and was the last surviving sibling of 9: Florian, Adam, Fridrich, Kathe, Theresia, Anna, Elisabeth, and Peter. She met Karl Auerbach at a German picnic in Detroit, they were married on September 21, 1957 in Franklin Village, MI. They made their home in Southfield, Mi until their move to Frankenmuth in 1995. She loved dancing with her husband, cooking meals, and baking German delights. Her yard and flowers were her source of joy and were admired by neighbors.

Maria is survived by two sons Peter (Susan) Auerbach and William (Heidi) Auerbach; one grandson Christopher Auerbach and many beloved nieces and nephews.

A private family service will be held with burial to follow in Frankenmuth Township Cemetery. The family would like to thank the staff, nurses and hospice care workers at Bavarian Comfort Care for all their loving care and support of Maria the past two years.
