Marie A. Bierlein

Frankenmuth, MI

Marie was surrounded by her four children when she entered heaven to meet her loving Savior on November 21, 2023, age 89.  Surely Marie's earthly father, who passed away five months prior to her birth, was waiting to greet her for the first time.

Marie Walter was born June 4, 1934 in Frankenmuth to the late Ottomar and Agnes (Bronner) Walter. She married Wilmar Bierlein on August 6, 1955 at St. Lorenz Lutheran Church in Frankenmuth.  He preceded her in death on October 3, 2014.  Together, they were blessed with four children; Mary Anne (Steven) Schrems, Sharon (Michael) Bergman, Thomas (Mary) Bierlein, Katherine (Kurt) Rodammer, all of Frankenmuth; and nine grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren; Adam (Kelly) Schrems and Harlan; Gabriella (Eric) Traver and Isla; Sara (Aaron) Feinauer and Felix, Linus and Aurelia; David (Kimberly) Bergman and Evelyn, Nora, and Elsie; Faythe Bergman; Elizabeth and Mariah Bierlein; Collin and Grant Rodammer.  Marie also leaves behind special cousins, Marcia Dicks and Mary (Don) Orth and sister-in-law, Mildred Bierlein.

Following graduation from Arthur Hill High School in 1951, Marie began working at Frankenmuth Insurance until the time she started a family in 1956.  Marie continued to use the administrative skills she acquired at work, to manage the family farm and in her volunteer work for St. Lorenz Lutheran Church.  Marie could often be found in her kitchen preparing delicious meals and even better cookies, bars, desserts, pies and chocolate candy. She had many classic recipes but was never afraid to try something new.  If she needed to prepare a dessert for an event, she generously made two so her family could enjoy one as well.  Her loved ones always left her home with a plate of the latest sweet treat she had lovingly prepared.  She took great pride in her family learning to prepare her holiday recipes so her memory would live on for years to come.

Marie was passionate about family history and prepared family tree reference books for the Bierlein, Knoll, and Bronner families.

Besides her husband, Wilmar, and her parents, Marie was preceded in death by her parents-in-law, Edwin and Lydia (Knoll) Bierlein; a special cousin, Wilma (Bronner) List and brothers-in-law Norbert (Dorothy) Bierlein and Donald Bierlein.

Funeral service will take place on Monday, November 27, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Lorenz Lutheran Church, 1030 West Tuscola Street, Frankenmuth, Michigan. Marie's service will be livestreamed at https://stlorenz.org/stream/. Rev. Joel Kaiser will officiate with burial in St. Lorenz Cemetery. Marie's family will receive visitors at Cederberg Funeral Home of Frankenmuth, 590 N. Franklin St. on Sunday from 1:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and on Monday at the church from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.
