Eckenswiller
Sep 8, 1965 — Jun 18, 2024
In Loving Memory of Marilyn (Mardi) Eckenswiller
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Marilyn (Mardi) Eckenswiller, who left us peacefully on June 18, 2024, surrounded by loving family at the University of Michigan Hospital.
Born on September 8, 1965 in Southfield, Michigan, Mardi was the fifth of six children of the late Leo and Marilyn Eckenswiller. She grew up in Vassar, MI with an early love of all animals; a passion that carried throughout her life.
Mardi graduated from Davenport University with a degree in business and utilized her talents in both the restaurant industry and in state government. She worked for the Dead Creek Saloon in Frankenmuth and Trackside in Reese, followed by a supervisory position at the Michigan Unemployment Insurance Agency for many years. She worked with thousands of people impacted by the COVID pandemic, with a deep desire to navigate the complicated process and provided a listening ear for those facing hardships.
Beyond her professional accomplishments, Mardi had a true love and compassion for people and animals and a heart for service to others. If you knew her, you were also the benefactor of her love and acts of kindness.
Mardi is survived by her siblings, Veronica (Kenneth) Horn, William Eckenswiller, JoAnn Crary, Annette (William) Rummel, and Doug (Alana) Eckenswiller and numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. Mardi was preceded in death by her parents Leo and Marilyn Eckenswiller and special grand-niece, Zelda "Zellie" Horn.
The funeral liturgy will be held on Thursday, June 27, 2024 at Blessed Trinity Catholic Church in Frankenmuth. Family will greet guests at 10:00 a.m., followed by a service at 11:00. Funeral Mass will be livestreamed at https://www.btmuth.org/current-livestream-mass.html . In lieu of flowers, those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to the Blessed Trinity Endowment Fund or the Eckenswiller Family Fund for the Poor.
Mardi will be remembered for her warmth, service to others, and her kindness. Her legacy and love for animals will continue to live on in all who knew her. She will be deeply missed, but forever in our hearts.
