Martha Mary (Mertz) Maccani (55) of Frankenmuth joined the Lord suddenly on July 15, 2023 after battling a chronic illness; she was surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Saginaw, Michigan on July 20, 1967 to Judith Mertz, who survives her, and the late Donald Mertz. She was one of four children including James Mertz (Andrea), Susan Boerger (James), and the late, Katherine Hellner. She graduated from Frankenmuth High School in 1985 where she played volleyball and basketball. She went on to proudly receive a Bachelors of Science in Dental Hygiene from the University of Michigan.Martha married the love of her life, Robert Maccani, on February 24, 1990. They cherished their wonderful 32 years of marriage. Devoted wife and mother, Martha is survived by her husband Robert, two children Hayley and Evan (Alexa) Maccani. She is also survived by her loving mother-in-law Donna and multiple nieces and nephews.
Martha enjoyed spending time by the water, skiing, playing tennis, gardening, reading, British history and cooking. Most of all she loved spending time with her family and dog Pippa.
Martha will forever be remembered for her kindness, her beautiful smile, and her love and acceptance of those around her.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday, July 20, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. at Blessed Trinity Catholic Church, 958 E. Tuscola Rd., Frankenmuth, Michigan. Martha's family will receive visitors at Cederberg Funeral Home of Frankenmuth, 590 N. Franklin St. on Wednesday from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. and at the church on Thursday from 10:00 a.m. until time of service. There will be a prayer service/Rosary on Wednesday at the funeral home at 6:00 p.m. For those unable to attend, a live stream will be available on https://www.btmuth.org/current-livestream-mass.html.
In lieu of flowers, those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to Gift of Life Michigan or Blessed Trinity Catholic Church.
