Martin
Tyckoski
Sep 8, 1945 — Jul 21, 2021
Martin Tyckoski
Frankenmuth, MI
Martin Alan Tyckoski was born in Flint, Michigan, September 8, 1945, to Dorothy and Leonard Tyckoski who have pre-deceased him. He is survived by his wife, Roslyn Weedman; children James Crawford (Gladys) and Cristin Crawford; and James and Gladys's three children, the grandchildren he adored, Miguel, Zane, and his namesake Tyckoski (Ski); and his sister Lucy Allen as well as many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother Robert and his sister Mary Lenore. He would want to mention his little dog Cookie, too, who survives and misses him.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday, July 29, 2021, at 11:00 a.m. at Blessed Trinity Catholic Church, 958 E. Tuscola Rd., Frankenmuth, Michigan. With burial in Blessed Trinity Cemetery. Martin's family will receive visitors at church on Thursday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. In lieu of flowers, those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to Quality Living Systems (providing housing for developmentally disabled.)
Martin received his undergraduate degree from Michigan State University in accounting and his law degree from the University of Texas School of Law. He was a sole practitioner in Flint specializing in probate law for nearly fifty years, eventually transitioning his practice to his friend and colleague, Eric Mead.
When Martin was three, he contracted polio during the worldwide pandemic at that time, for which there was no cure or vaccine until later. Thirty years ago, in his 40's, he contracted post-polio syndrome, a separate virus only those who had polio could contract – a progressive disease with no cure. This eventually took his life July 21.
His life was defined by kindness, intelligence, a sharp wit, a respect for life, a strong faith, and an unshakeable love for his family. He was the kind of person that everyone could count on – to pick them up at the airport, to catch them when they tripped on life's journey, and to be there by their side through any circumstance.
Prosecutor Art Bush of Flint once remarked to a group of people that Martin was "always on the side of the angels." It is only fitting to know that he has now joined them.
