Obituary

Marvin L. Hauck

Frankenmuth, MI

Marvin L. Hauck passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 22, 2024, at Covenant Glen of Frankenmuth. Marvin lived a full and vibrant life in his 86 years and leaves a legacy of love, laughter, and service. Known for his kindness and compassionate heart, Marvin touched many lives, always ready with a helping hand and a warm smile. He is survived by his beloved wife Barbara. Marvin was born to the late Lewis and Rachel Hauck. He graduated from Central Michigan University after attending Birch Run High School. While at Central Michigan University, Marvin was a member of the T.K.E. fraternity, had his own CMU radio program, and was the announcer for CMU's marching band.

Marvin dedicated his life to education and began his teaching career at Cass City High School, moving there with his new bride Barbara Beyerlein. Returning to Frankenmuth, he continued as a high school teacher. He moved into administration serving as the Principal for Frankenmuth High School. From there he advanced to Assistant Superintendent for Personnel at the Bridgeport School District. During this time, he received his Master's degree in education. Even after retiring, he continued to share his knowledge and experience after being recruited to serve as an Adjunct Professor of Education at Saginaw Valley State University. He truly enjoyed his ten years working with the student teachers with whom he shared his vast knowledge.

Marvin was an active member of the community, serving as President of the Frankenmuth Archery Club, longtime member of the Frankenmuth Rotary Club and President from 1974-1975, and a member of the Frankenmuth Conservation Club. Marvin was also actively involved in St. John's Lutheran Church, serving as President of the Congregation, on the Board of Elders, and as one of the church's first radio announcers.

He and Barb were quite active and enjoyed many activities involving motorcycling in the woods, snowmobiling with friends, traveling, and visiting relatives. As a skilled carpenter, he enjoyed remodeling their cottage at Houghton Lake welcoming family and friends.

Marv and Barb spent winters in Arizona where Marv enjoyed golf, woodworking, pickleball, and doing audio visual for the park. He entertained the group at block parties by telling jokes from his supposed "cousin."

Most of all, Marvin loved and cherished his family and was happiest when surrounded by his loved ones. In addition to his wife Barbara, he leaves to cherish his memory three children Trina (Steven) Fowlkes of Houston, TX; Tony (Sharon) Hauck of Frankenmuth; Kris Hauck (David Koberstein) of Mountain View, CA; six grandchildren: Brittany Fowlkes, Erin (Ryan) Resendez, Kelly (Ezequiel) Garcia, Austin Hauck (Megan Hoesman), Sarah Hauck, and Robert Koberstein; five great-grandchildren: Presley and Logan Resendez, Nico and Santi Garcia, and Jaxson Ball.

Marvin's family will receive visitors at Cederberg Funeral Home of Frankenmuth, 590 N. Franklin St. on Tuesday, June 11, 2024 from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and on Wednesday at the church from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. Funeral service will take place Wednesday, June 12, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. at St. John's Lutheran Church, 1200 E. Genesee, Frankenmuth, Michigan.  Rev. Patrick Ernst will officiate.
