Loving husband, father, and grandfather passed away peacefully Tuesday, February 23rd, 2021, at Ascension St. Mary's Hospital. Marvin was born on May 15 th , 1937 in Saginaw, MI to the late Herman and Helena Sperling. He was married to Janet Riddle on March 17 th , 1973; she survives him. Marvin was employed by General Motors as a tinsmith for 46 years. He was a member of the Frankenmuth United Methodist Church, Masonic Lodge, and Frankenmuth Lion's Club. Marvin also volunteered often with Habitat for Humanity.
Surviving besides his wife Janet are: his 6 children Mark (Nada) Sperling of CA, Kevin (Susan) Sperling of IL, Shawn (Stan) Mikolaizyk of GA, Christy Sperling of Saginaw, MI, John (Jessica) Sperling of CO, and Darci (Greg) Mott of Saginaw, MI; 14 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; his brother Ray Sperling and sister-in-law Carol Hammond and many nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles, and close friends.
Marvin was preceded in death by his sister Helen Wilder, his two brothers Lyle Sperling and Melvin Sperling; his sisters-in-law Goldie Sperling and Betty Sperling; and his brother-in-law Norman Wilder.
Funeral Service will take place on Monday, March 1st, 2021 at 11 a.m. at Frankenmuth United Methodist Church, 346 Vates St., Frankenmuth, Michigan. The service will be live streamed on the Cederberg Funeral Home of Frankenmuth Facebook page. Marvin's family will receive visitors at Cederberg Funeral Home of Frankenmuth, 590 N. Franklin St., Frankenmuth, Michigan on Sunday, February 28th from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and on Monday at the church from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. A private family burial will take place at Roselawn Memorial Gardens after the services. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to Frankenmuth United Methodist Church.
