Passed away peacefully to be with the Lord with family by his side Wednesday, March 14, 2018, at Independence Village in Frankenmuth; age 90 years. Marvin "Puff" Weiss was born on May 15, 1927 in Frankenmuth, MI to the late Jacob and Linda (Ortner) Weiss. He was married to Lorraine Hecht on October 4, 1952 at St. Lorenz Lutheran Church; she survives him. He honorably served in the US Army during the Korean conflict. Marvin was a lifelong farmer until his retirement. He was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church of Frankentrost, he served as an elder, an usher, was a member of it's Men's Club and various boards and committees. Marvin was also a member of the American Legion Post 229 and Farm Bureau. He enjoyed playing cards, traveling and cutting wood.
Surviving besides his wife Lorraine are his children, Dennis (Lori) Weiss of Saginaw, MI, Sally (Dave) Janson of Reese, MI, James (Marcia) Weiss of Saginaw, MI, Heidi (Dave) Kowalski of Saginaw, MI; nine grandchildren Michael (Jennifer) Weiss, Heather (Phil) Reinbold, Matthew (Sarah) Weiss, Lisa (Nick) Walter, Scott (Elizabeth) Janson, Coryn Houser, Sean Weiss, Nicole Kowalski, Jacob Kowalski; nine great grandchildren, Travis, Karli, Brady, Madison, Clara, Levi, Ryder, Eve, Elyse; 2 sisters, Hildegard Huber, Ellen (Henry) Bender; sisters-in-law Margaret, Marion and Betty Weiss, also many nieces and nephews.
Marvin was preceded in death by brothers and sisters; Selma (Herbert) Hecht, Marie (Reinhold) Block, Marian (Arno) Keinath, Art (Loraine), Wilbur, Andy, Norman (Edna), Victor Weiss and brother-in-law Norman Huber.
Funeral services will take place on Monday, March 19, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at Immanuel Lutheran Church, 8220 Holland Rd., Frankentrost, Michigan. Rev. Mark Loest will officiate with burial in Eastlawn Memorial Gardens. Marvin's family will receive visitors at Cederberg Funeral Home of Frankenmuth, 590 N. Franklin St. on Sunday from 1:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. and on Monday at the church from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.
