Mary Sue
Crawford
Dec 13, 1939 — May 16, 2020
Mary Sue Crawford
Frankenmuth, MI
Funeral Mass August 8, 2020 11 A.M. Blessed Trinity Catholic Church.
Mary Sue ("Sue") Crawford, 80, of Frankenmuth, MI, entered Heaven on May 16, 2020 after a courageous battle with cancer.
The daughter of the late Richard and Gertrude Gamble, Sue was born in Cleveland, Ohio. She was preceded in death by brother Richard, sister Kathy, and daughter-in-law Lisa. She is survived by the love of her life, Howard, and together they raised their four children: Terry (Michelle) of Grand Blanc, MI; Todd (Stamford, CT); Tim (Frankenmuth), and Kelly (Lombard, IL). She was also blessed with four grandchildren, Nicholas, Elizabeth, Davis, and Evan, whom she loved and adored dearly. Also surviving are siblings John Gamble (Patty), Rita Fricano (Chuck), and Carolyn Gamble, along with many nieces and nephews.
Sue attended Purdue University where she met Howard, and they wed on November 26, 1959 in South Bend, Indiana. She received her Master's in education from Central Michigan University. Although she never taught, she had a strong passion for books and loved working and volunteering at libraries throughout her life. You could find her playing bridge or mahjong for hours, studying genealogy and tracing her Irish roots, or reading an historical fiction novel. Her faith was of utmost importance to her, attending daily mass and serving 42 years of ministry to the altar servers at Blessed Trinity Catholic Church. She enjoyed water aerobics and walking on her treadmill as she said her eight daily rosaries for her children and grandchildren. Supporting her children and their various activities was the focal point of her life, and she put everyone else before herself. She was able to spend her final months at her favorite place, Daytona Beach Shores, Florida. She defied odds tackling one obstacle after the next, but in the end, God needed an angel.
The family would like to extend their sincere appreciation for all the prayers, cards, and well wishes during these last few months. Sue was truly touched to listen to your encouraging words and to know that so many people were praying for her.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, August 8, 2020, at 11:00 a.m. at Blessed Trinity Catholic Church, 958 E. Tuscola Rd., Frankenmuth, Michigan. Fr. Patrick Jankowiak will officiate. Sue's family will receive visitors at Blessed Trinity on Friday from 2:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. and at church on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.
