Mary L. Genske
Frankenmuth, MI
Mary L. Neath Genske of Frankenmuth, Michigan, passed away peacefully with family by her side on Tuesday, May 5, 2026, at MyMichigan Medical Center. She was 83 years old.
Mary Neath was born on January 18, 1943, in Saginaw, Michigan, to the late Howard and Ruth Neath. On October 13, 1962, she married the love of her life, David Genske, at Grace Lutheran Church. He survives her.
Mary was previously employed by Davisburg Candle Factory and held a variety of jobs throughout her life. More than anything, she was devoted to caring for others. She was a homemaker at heart, a caregiver to everyone she knew, and a steady source of love and support to her family.
She generously gave her time to her community as a P.T.A. volunteer teacher’s assistant, a founding member of the Shields Area Jaycettes, and through involvement in a number of other local clubs. Mary was a faithful member of St. Lorenz Lutheran Church. She enjoyed simple pleasures especially bingo, trips to the casino, and time spent with family and those she loved.
In addition to her husband, David, Mary is survived by her children, David Genske II of Fuquay-Varina, North Carolina; Kristopher (Stephanie) Genske of Waconia, Minnesota; and Eric (Amy) Genske of Williamston, Michigan. She also leaves behind her beloved grandchildren, Reagan Elizabeth Genske, Ashley Lona, Joshua (Payton Wilner) Genske, Kortney Genske, Travis Genske, and Kala Genske; and four great-grandchildren, Landon, Grayson, Madison, and Hayes.
Mary is also survived by her brother, Jamie Cushman; special friends Mary Jo, Phyllis, Floyd, and Harriett; along with many nieces, nephews, cousins, and close friends.
She was preceded in death by her sisters, Susan and Maureen, and her brothers, Scott and Mike.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, May 9, 2026, at 12:00 p.m. at St. Lorenz Lutheran Church, 1030 W. Tuscola, Frankenmuth, Michigan. The Rev. Joel Kaiser will officiate. Cremation has taken place. Mary’s family will receive visitors at the church on Saturday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service.
Those wishing to honor Mary’s memory may consider memorial contributions to the American Diabetes Association.
