With open arms God welcomed Mary home and Heaven gained another member to the choir of angels on Saturday, September 17, 2022, age 83 years. Mary Ann Zolinski was born on May 21, 1939 in Saginaw, MI to the late Jake and Maria (Schindlbeck) Zolinski. Mary graduated from Saginaw High School and went on to Saginaw General Hospital School of Nursing, where she was a member of the first graduating class. She was married to Lewis R. Geyer on November 12, 1960; he predeceased her on June 2, 2008.
Mary was a dedicated member of St. Lorenz Lutheran Church. She worked as a nurse in the ICU for 20 years. Her life exemplified her Christian and caring spirit, sharing her passion of caring for and serving others through 4-H, nursing, the St. Lorenz Treble Choir, Parish Health Ministry, medical mission trips, and Stephen Ministry.
Surviving are two daughters and one son: Maria Geyer Bierlein, Lewis R. (Stephanie) Geyer II, and Peggy (Michael) Beyerlein Engel; grandchildren Christopher (Heather) Bierlein, Melissa (Kenny) Bierlein Kern, Drolma Lhamo Geyer, Madeline Geyer, Grace Geyer, Elizabeth Engel Simon, Lori Engel, and Jill Engel; great grandchildren Eva Bierlein, Ruben Bierlein, Makayla (Corbin) Kern Boensch, Erik Kern, and Chad Simon; and great-great grandson Mason Kern. She also leaves behind siblings John (Rosemary) Zolinski, Ann Hernick, Rosalie Oldenburg, Frank Zolinski, and Vincent (Trudy) Zolinski; and brother-in-law Eldon (Sherry) Geyer.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Lewis; son-in-law Darwin Bierlein; and brothers and sisters-in-law James Hernick, Richard Oldenburg, Donald (Barbara) Haines, and Roy (Bernice) Beyerlein.
A celebration of life will take place Sunday, October 16, 2022 at 1:00 p.m. at St. Lorenz Lutheran Church, 1030 W. Tuscola St. Rev. Shawn Fenske will officiate. Mary's family will receive visitors at church on Sunday, October 16, 2022 from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service. In lieu of flowers, those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to St. Lorenz Music Ministry, St. Lorenz Treble Choir, Saginaw Rescue Mission, or a charity of donor's choice.
