Our mother, grandmother and great-grandmother passed away Sunday, March 4, 2018; age 92 years.  Mary Jo Smith was born on September 18, 1925 in Elkhart, IN.  She was the daughter of the late Ivo and Nina (Rhees) Smith.  She was married to William "Dutch" Reindel of Frankenmuth in June 1948 with whom she shared 48 years of marriage before his death in 1996.  Mary Jo was an RN.  She graduated from St. Mary's School of Nursing in 1947 and was employed there until her retirement in 2000.  She was a member of St. Lorenz Lutheran Church, St. Mary's Alumni Association, the Association of peri-Operative Nurses (AORN) and the American Nursing Association.

Surviving her are two daughters and one son: Jonalyn (Loren) Rustem of Saginaw, Jennifer Pendleton of Grand Rapids and Thomas Reindel of Long Beach, CA; four grandchildren: Adam (Amy) Pendleton, Amanda (Joshua) Caldwell, Kate Rustem and Emily Pendleton (Michael Damron); three great-grandchildren: Cole and Ellison Jo Caldwell and Madelyn Damron.  She also leaves special friends Dennis Rader and Kevin Pendleton; and four nephews and their families.

Besides her husband, Mary Jo was preceded in death by a brother-in law and sister-in-law, as well as a special aunt, Susan Stover.

Funeral services will take place on Thursday, March 8, 2018 at 10:15 a.m. at Cederberg Funeral Home of Frankenmuth, 590 N. Franklin St., Frankenmuth, Michigan and 11:00 a.m. at St. Lorenz Lutheran Church.  Rev. Joel Kaiser will officiate.  Burial will take place between services in St. Lorenz Cemetery.  Mary Jo's family will receive visitors at the funeral home on Wednesday from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and on Thursday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service. In lieu of flowers, those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to Camp Lu Lay Lea.
