Went home to be with his Lord, Tuesday, January 22, 2019 at Select Specialty Hospital; age 91 years. Mervin was born June 1, 1927 in Vassar, MI to the late Richard (Irene) Knoll. He was married to Wilma Petzold November 2, 1952, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Millington. She survives him. Mervin was a lifelong Dairy Farmer for 60 years. He was a member of St. Lorenz Lutheran Church, serving as an elder, and served on many agricultural boards. Mervin also served on the Tuscola Township Board of Review.
Surviving besides his wife Wilma of over 66 years, are his children; Brian (Lisa) Knoll) of Vassar, MI, Keith (Jenny) Knoll of Vassar, MI, Lynette (Bruce) Heinlein of Vassar, MI, Denise (Scott) Sommerfield of Munger, MI, Deborah (Charles) Zwerk of Reese, MI, grandchildren; Andrea (Adam) Lowe, Douglas Knoll, Rebekah Knoll, Jeffrey Knoll, Cory Knoll, Bret (Devin) Heinlein, Karah (Andrew) Leach, Lance (Lisa) Heinlein, Luke (Paige) Sommerfield, Lesley Sommerfield, Bradley Sommerfield, Nicholas (Angie) Zwerk, Calvin Zwerk, Hillary (Mark) Romain, nine great grandchildren; two sisters; Bernice (Harvey) Schiefer and Loretta Weber, one brother-in-law; Ronald (JoAnne) Petzold, two sisters-in-law; Lorine Petzold and Norene Trappa, also many nieces and nephews.
Mervin was preceded in death by four brothers-in-law; Erwin Weber, Robert Petzold, Hilbert Petzold, and Joseph Trappa.
Funeral services will take place Monday, January 28, 2019 at 10:15 a.m. at Cederberg Funeral Home of Frankenmuth, 590 N. Franklin St. and 11:00 a.m. at St. Lorenz Lutheran Church. Rev. Shawn Fenske will officiate with burial between services in St. Lorenz Lutheran Cemetery. Mervin's family will receive visitors at the funeral home Sunday from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and Monday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the 10:15 a.m. service. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to St. Lorenz Lutheran Church or a Charity of Donor's Choice.
