Myra Whittle

Myra Sophia Whittle, 96, of Frankenmuth, Michigan, went to be with the Lord on September 28, 2026.

Myra was born February 22, 1930 in Frankenmuth, Michigan to Johann and Hattie Lotter. She was raised on their farm along with her brother John, always enjoying country life. She graduated from Arthur Hill High School in 1948. Following graduation, Myra worked at Wickes Corporation in Saginaw, Michigan until she married and had her family. When her children reached school age, she went back to work at Frankenmuth Mutual Insurance Corporation where she served as a policy services manager for many years.

Myra met William Thomas Whittle as a teenager. She was, and always has been, the apple of his eye. They were married February 6,1954. Their marriage would endure for 72 wonderful years. They were blessed with 4 children, 10 grandchildren, and 15 great-grandchildren.

The Holy Spirit entered our mother’s heart in Holy Baptism as an infant. She was confirmed in 1944 at St. Lorenz Lutheran Church, where she has remained a lifelong member. Myra’s life was shaped and guided by her abiding faith in the saving grace of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Myra was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She embraced life having a zest for learning. Enjoying stained glass, sewing, knitting, eating her niece Sally’s baking, gardening, and traveling the world with Bill. She was an avid card player, belonging to many clubs and was an excellent Bridge player. Many happy summers were spent at their cottage with her immediate and extended family enjoying water activities and great food (especially Mark’s barbecued chicken). In recent years, Myra and Bill spent winters in Florida enjoying family visits and riding her bike, honking her horn at the neighbors.

Myra leaves behind her beloved husband, Bill; children Thomas (Jeanie) Whittle, Michele Senn, Cheryl Whittle, and Mark (Diana) Whittle; grandchildren Stephen (Kendra), Michael (Kyli), Gregory (Megan), Zachary (Emily), Benjamin (Rachel), David (Sarah Leahy), Jonathan (Sydney), Micah, Claire, and Gabriel; great-grandchildren James, Harper, Margot, Evelyn, Winry, Luna, Sophia, Noah, Alexander, Luke, Leo, Eli, Bennett, Anthony, and Milo.

Mom loved and adored her husband and each of her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She made everyone she met feel special. Our mother is cherished by her family and will be dearly missed. As you read this, Myra Sophia is singing praises to our Lord in heaven. God bless.

Funeral Service will take place on Friday, October 2, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Lorenz Lutheran Church, 1030 W. Tuscola, Frankenmuth, Michigan. Myra’s family will receive visitors at the church from 10:00 a.m. until time of service. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to any charity of choice associated with St. Lorenz Lutheran Church or School.
