Neil Thomas Redford

September 28, 1932, to February 19, 2022.

Neil Thomas Redford went to his heavenly home on Saturday, February 19, 2022. Neil is survived by his wife Phyllis Redford, his three children and their spouses, Terry (Lou) Heldman, Patricia (Bill) Niewoonder, and Michael (Kris) Redford; his two brothers Bill and Don Redford; his five grand-children - Dan Redford (fiancée Kayla Bender), Brad (Christy) Redford, Kent (Selina) Redford, Nick Heldman, and Diana Heldman (fiancé Jorge De Hoyos); and the newest member of the Redford clan and his first great grandchild - Noelle Redford.

Neil met his wife of 68 years at Cooley High School in Detroit where they both graduated. Neil also graduated with a bachelor's degree from Wayne State University and subsequently received his master's degree in physical education from Eastern Michigan University. He taught for many years in the Farmington School system and coached high school basketball. Even in retirement, Neil continued to substitute teach for many years finding fulfillment in working with children.

Following retirement, Neil and Phyllis traveled extensively throughout the United States and internationally. One of his favorite past-times was playing golf, and he and his wife enjoyed countless rounds with friends and family over many decades. His greatest joy, however, was spending time with family and the many vacations they took together as well as watching the grandchildren participate in many athletic activities and school performances.

People who knew Neil always commented on how loving and caring he was. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

Memorial service will take place on Friday, February 25, 2022, at 12:00 p.m. at Cederberg Funeral Home of Frankenmuth, 590 N. Franklin Street. Neil's family will receive visitors at the funeral home on Friday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. In lieu of flowers, the family hopes you will consider making a donation in Neil's memory to Wellspring Lutheran Foundation or to a charity of your choice.
