Norbert Gaebel

Frankenmuth, MI

Passed away Friday, October 20, 2023 after a lengthy illness; age 89 years. Norbert was born on May 5, 1934 in Berlin, Germany to the late Richard and Frances Gaebel. He was married on September 23, 1978 to Sheryl in Frankenmuth, MI; she survives him. He worked until his retirement at General Motors as an electrician. Norbert also had a tax preparation business until 2015. He enjoyed woodworking, cutting wood for heat, being outdoors, playing chess and cards, playing the accordion, traveling, and watching old movies. Norbert greatly enjoyed spending time with his friends and family especially his children and grandchildren.

Surviving besides his wife Sheryl are Aimee (Robert) White-Butts of West Branch, MI, Matthew (Sheryl) White of Goodyear, AZ, Ashley (Matthew Reif) Gaebel of Frankfort, IL; grandchildren Bradley (Raven) Leidlein, Allie (Christopher) Huizar, Olivia White, Rebecca White, Barrett Reif and Beckham Reif; great grandchildren Sylas Leidlein and Brody Crane; brother Dieter Gaebel, and many nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents, Norbert was preceded in death by grandson Joshua White and brother Guenter Gaebel.

Memorial service will take place on Saturday, November 18, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. at Cederberg Funeral Home of Frankenmuth, 590 N. Franklin Street. Norbert's family will receive visitors at the funeral home on Saturday, November 18th from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.
