Passed away peacefully on Monday, March 16, 2026 at Covenant Healthcare after a brief illness; age 89 years. Norma Geyer was born in Saginaw, MI on March 7, 1937 to the late Fred and Leona Geyer. She was married to Martin Zehnder on June 20, 1959; he survives her.
Norma was employed by Saginaw General after graduating from the University of Michigan with her Bachelor's. After four years she was asked to be an instructor at Saginaw General School of Nursing. She was a homemaker mother raising her family and was a part of Kinder Haus Nursery at the former Schreiner Store. Afterwards she worked at an OBGYN doctor's office in Saginaw and later attended Wayne State University receiving her Master's and PhD. She later taught nursing at SVSU for the next 20 years.
Norma was a member of St. Lorenz Lutheran Church and its treble choir, and the National Nurses United. She enjoyed downhill skiing, golfing, traveling, and cheering on the University of Michigan, but most of all she loved spending time with her family.
Surviving besides her husband Martin are: Scott (Cherl) Zehnder of Calabash, NC; Steven (Tammy) Zehnder of Frankenmuth, MI; Leslie (Karl) Snyder of Lansing, MI; Craig Zehnder of Port Angeles, WA; grandchildren Taylor and Colin Beaudin, Katelyn and Kyle Zehnder, and Shuyuan and Tsz-Yan Snyder.
Norma was preceded in death by daughter Leigh Zehnder-Najera.
Funeral services will take place on Friday, March 20, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Lorenz Lutheran Church, 1030 W. Tuscola St. Frankenmuth, MI. The Rev. Joel Kaiser will officiate. Norma's family will receive visitors at Cederberg Funeral Home of Frankenmuth, 590 N. Franklin St. on Thursday from 3:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to St. Lorenz School Music Department, Music at St. Lorenz, or St. Lorenz Male Choir.
