Norman W. LaBrenz

Roscommon, MI formerly of Frankenmuth

Joined Phyllis in heaven Sunday, September 26, 2021, at Munson Healthcare Grayling Hospital; age 86 years.  Norman was born on March 11, 1935, in Saginaw, MI to the late Walter and Lenora (Krueger) LaBrenz. He honorably served in the U.S. Army. Norm married Phyllis Hetzner on October 5, 1957, she predeceased him on April 2, 2009.

Norm graduated from Arthur Hill High School and then went on to Bay City Junior College to pursue a degree in Engineering. During his military service Norm served as a clerk and typist with the S3 Section of the Third Brigade/Niki Corporal Missile Unit, and upon his return to civilian life he was a payroll clerk with the U.S. Army Reserves. Norm and Phyllis purchased NRC Reproductions in Saginaw which became Prints Plus Inc. in April of 1989. He was a member of St. Lorenz Lutheran Church. Throughout the years Norm and family enjoyed tent camping in the Upper Peninsula and some of the Lower Peninsula, Niagara Falls, the Blue Ridge and Smokey Mountains, and in many other states across the country. Norm and Phyllis went on many trips abroad together, some countries they visited include Venezuela, Puerto Rico, Germany, Austria, and Switzerland. Notably they took an 8100-mile, six-week long auto tour down through the Midwest and then up the West Coast stopping in many states along the way. Vacations didn't stop with road trips and camping, cruises were also a favorite getaway of theirs, taking cruises through the Panama Canal, Alaska, Europe, China, and the Yukon Territory.

Surviving are children Daniel (Raquel) LaBrenz of Chula Vista, CA, Jean (Dr. David) Antonie of Boise, ID, Mark (Carrie) LaBrenz of Roscommon, MI, Drs. Steven (Donna) LaBrenz of Exton, PA, and Paul (Karla) LaBrenz of Frankenmuth; grandchildren Joshua, Nicholas, Zachary, Aurora, Heather, Eleanore, Grace, Paige, Ashlyn, and Trace LaBrenz; sister June Brandeberry; and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral service will take place on Thursday, October 7, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Lorenz Lutheran Church, 1030 W. Tuscola, Frankenmuth, Michigan. The service will be livestreamed at www.stlorenz.org/stream . Rev. Shawn Fenske will officiate with burial to follow in St. Lorenz Cemetery. Norm's family will receive visitors at Cederberg Funeral Home of Frankenmuth, 590 N. Franklin St. on Wednesday from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and at church on Thursday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to St. Jude Children's Hospital or St. Lorenz Lutheran Church.
