Peter M. Howey

Birch Run, MI formerly of Munger, MI

Passed away Monday, December 2, 2019, age 49 years, of a sudden hemorrhagic stroke. Pete was born on June 25, 1970, in Bay City, MI, to the late Charles Howey and Joyce Howey; she survives him. His academic credentials were extensive: a dual Bachelor of Fine Arts from Grand Valley State University, a Master of Arts from Central Michigan University, and a Post Graduate Certificate in Museum & Heritage Studies from Michigan State University. He was married to Karen on February 28, 2009; she survives him. Peter was employed at Four Winds Farm & Equine Hospital, past positions included Administrator for the Historical Museum of Bay County and curator of the Saginaw Art Museum. Pete was a true Renaissance Man and committed to each interest with passion and focus. He was a boatsman, motorcycle enthusiast, skilled guitarist and vocalist, photographer, EMT, expert mechanic and electrician, an avid gardener, chef, baker, and so much more. But where he truly excelled was in his kindness and generous spirit. He took care of anyone who knew him.

Surviving besides his wife Karen and his mother Joyce are: daughter Sydney Bickel, sister Patricia Hannon of Germany, and aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.

According to Peter's family, cremation has taken place. A celebration of life will be announced at a later date. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to a college fund in support of his beloved daughter Sydney. Please click on the link below to donate.
