Phillip M. Fitch

Frankenmuth, MI

Loving son, brother, husband and father passed away Monday, January 6, 2024 at Covenant Cooper; age 77 years. Phil was born on October 12, 1947 to the late Ezra and Wilma Fitch. He was married to Kathryn McDermitt on October 28, 1995; she predeceased him on February 15, 2023.

Phil honorably served in the U.S Army during the Vietnam War from November 7th, 1966 to November 6th, 1968. During that time, he received a National Defense Service Medal, Bronze Service Star, and a Vietnam Campaign Medal. He retired from GM - Buick City in 1997. He was a member of the Genesee Masonic Lodge for 33 years. Phil loved fishing, music, the Detroit Lions, going to the gym, spending time with loved ones, cookies and especially coconut cream donuts – thanks to his niece and nephew Trisha and Dale Buzzell.

Surviving are: children Nicole (Jack) Fitch and Robert Fitch; sister Carol Robb; brothers-in-law John Robb and Charles McDermitt; grandchildren Cody (Brenna) Gulick, Dakota Reynolds, and James Reynolds; great-grandchildren Carsen Douglass, Blake Gulick, and Noah Gulick; extra special niece Linda (Kirk) Bielskis; and several nieces and nephews.

Besides his wife Kathryn, Phil was preceded in death by his first wife, Barbara Brisbin, and sisters Minnie (Cliff) Peters, Peggy (Eric) Fitch, and Patty Fitch.

Committal service will take place in Great Lakes National Cemetery at a later date. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to Michigan Masonic Charitable Foundation.

The family would like to give a special thanks to Covenant Healthcare and Wellspring Rehab Unit for providing excellent and compassionate care.
