Passed away Saturday April 2, 2022 at Hurley Medical Center as a result of injuries sustained from an accident a few days prior; age 79 years. Dick was born on December 24, 1942 in Durand, MI to the late Oren and Erma Hunt. He honorably served in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Cuban Missile Crisis. He was married to Joan Keinath on August 19, 1967, she survives him.
Dick was employed by the Tuscola County Sheriff's Department for 5 years, later moving to the Frankenmuth Police Department until his retirement in 1998. After retirement he continued to serve the community while working at Cederberg Funeral Home of Frankenmuth. He was a member of St. Lorenz Lutheran Church and the American Legion Post 150 where he served as a commander and held many other roles. Dick was also an active member of VFW Post 2725 and an avid bowler, golfer, and reader. He loved traveling with his wife Joan and made it to 49 of the 50 states, and he also refereed high school football for 10 plus years.
Surviving besides his wife Joan are: two sons and one daughter Richard (Lisa) Hunt Jr. of Pensacola, FL, Randy Hunt of McKinney, TX, and Rachelle Licursi of Winchester, CA; six grandchildren Dana (Dave) Sands, William "Alex" Hunt, Sara Hunt, Rikki Carmichael, Ashley Licursi, and Brenden Licursi; one great grandson William Hunt Jr.; one brother James (Shari) Hunt; one sister Sherry Hunt; one brother-in-law Lyle Schlosser; three sisters-in-law Eunice Weiss, Betty Weiss, and Edna (Darryl) McLaren; and many nieces and nephews.
Dick was preceded in death by his sister Ann Schlosser.
Funeral service will take place on Friday, April 8, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Lorenz Lutheran Church, 1030 W. Tuscola St. Rev. Brad Hubbard will officiate with burial to follow in St. Lorenz Cemetery. Dick's family will receive visitors at Cederberg Funeral Home of Frankenmuth, 590 N. Franklin St. on Thursday, April 7, 2022 from 1:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and at church on Friday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. In lieu of flowers, those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to St. Lorenz Lutheran Church.
