Richard George Krafft, Jr., 90, of Frankenmuth, our dedicated, honest, and most loyal father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend went home to be with the Lord on the evening of Friday, May 22, 2020.
Dick was born in Frankenmuth on September 17, 1929, the son of the late Richard George and Meta (Hildner) Krafft. He was united in marriage to the former Mary Ann Keller on April 21, 1951. Sadly, Mary Ann preceded Dick on October 19, 2016 after 65 years of faithful marriage. Dick was a faithful member of St. Lorenz Lutheran Church. A leader in the church, civic organizations, and agricultural industry, Dick was known for his high level of integrity. He was the former President & Chairman of Star of the West Milling Company, and served as chair on many industry associations. Dick was an avid fisherman and dedicated Michigan State University fan. He loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
Dick is survived by his children, Michael (Cathy) Krafft of Frankenmuth, Chuck Krafft of Lansing, and John (Ann) Krafft of Frankenmuth; grandchildren, Mitchell (Melissa) Krafft, Maria (Todd) Tambling; great-grandchildren, Lukas Tambling, Joshua Krafft, and another baby girl on the way; sister, Lois Wylie; along with many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents and his wife, Dick was also preceded in death by his grandson, Richard Krafft.
Due to the current COVID-19 pandemic, a private family funeral will be held at Cederberg Funeral Home of Frankenmuth. The funeral will be live-streamed on the funeral home Facebook page at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, May 27, 2020. Interment will follow in St. Lorenz Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to St. Lorenz Lutheran Church, Girls of Grace. Arrangements entrusted to Cederberg Funeral Home of Frankenmuth.
