Robert H. Sawatzki

Spaulding Township, MI

Went home with his Lord Monday, May 16, 2022 at Wellspring Lutheran Services; age 98 years.  Robert was born on September 4, 1923 in Saginaw, MI to the late Elmer and Henrietta Sawatzki.   He was married to Marguerite Pigeault on January 10, 1948, she predeceased him on May 6, 2005. Robert was a lifelong farmer starting his own farm in 1942. He was a member of St. Lorenz Lutheran Church and volunteered at the Spaulding Township Fire Department. Robert was a member of the Saginaw County Agricultural Society, the NRA, and the Frankenmuth Conservation Club. He liked to hunt and fish, and Bob made a friend everywhere he went.

Surviving are one son and one daughter William (Julie) Sawatzki and Karen (Rick) Sprowl; grandchildren Jason (Billie) Sawatzki, Shane (Jenny) Sprowl, Jeremy Sprowl (Kelly Flannegan), Aaron (Kristi) Sawatzki, and Neil Sawatzki (Rebecca Hayward); great grandchildren Kristen, Kelsey, and Kayleen Sawatzki, Laine and Anne Katherine Sprowl, Drew Sawatzki and Cayden Sprowl; and sisters Dorothy (Dale) Ferchau and June Ostler.

Besides his wife Marguerite, Robert was preceded in death by his sisters Marian Adams and Berniece (Thomas) Girard; brothers-in-law Arnold Schluckebier and Fred Ostler; and special friend June Finger.

Funeral service will take place on Friday, May 20, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Lorenz Lutheran Church, 1030 W. Tuscola St. with burial to follow in Spaulding Township Cemetery.  Robert's family will receive visitors at Cederberg Funeral Home of Frankenmuth, 590 N. Franklin St. on Thursday from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and at church on Friday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to St. Lorenz Lutheran Church or the Saginaw County 4H Club.
