Roy F. Chapman

Saginaw, MI

Passed away peacefully to be with the Lord, Friday, August 13, 2021, at Wellspring Lutheran Services of Frankenmuth after a lengthy battle with dementia; age 90 years. Roy was born on December 28, 1930 in Saginaw, MI to the late Walter and Emma Chapman. Roy honorably served in the U.S. Army. He married Alice B. on April 2, 1983; she survives him.

Roy was employed by Saginaw Steering Gear until his retirement in 1985. He was a member of Faith Lutheran Church and volunteered at the Red Cross and Junction Valley Railroad. Roy loved bowling, fishing, traveling, and his Detroit teams, especially the Lions and the Tigers.

Surviving besides his wife Alice are: his 3 children Arnie (Cindy) Chapman of Tupelo, MS, Denise (William III) Stenger of Bridgeport, MI, and Steven (Cindy) Chapman of Freeland, MI; step-daughter Suzanne (Stephen) Clark of Mount Enterprise, TX; 7 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren; and 1 brother Walter "Skip" Chapman of Anaheim, CA.

Roy was preceded in death by his first wife Vernice Chapman and great granddaughter Kiley.

Memorial Service will take place on Tuesday, August 31, 2021, 11:00 a.m. at St. Lorenz Lutheran Church, 1030 W. Tuscola, Frankenmuth, Michigan. Roy's family will receive visitors at Cederberg Funeral Home of Frankenmuth, 590 N. Franklin St. on Monday from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of service. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to Saginaw Rescue Mission or Wellspring Lutheran Services.
