Roy E. Eischer went to be with his Lord at age 96 years on August 16, 2021 at Wellspring Lutheran Services with his family at his bedside.
Roy was born on February 28, 1925, the only son of William and Hedwig (Rodammer) Eischer. He was baptized, confirmed, and a lifelong member of St. Lorenz Lutheran Church in Frankenmuth. Roy was married to Lois E. Kern on June 14, 1952 and they were blessed with four children.
He attended and graduated from St. Lorenz Lutheran School, Arthur Hill High School in Saginaw, Kettering University in Flint, and the U.S. Army Counter Intelligence School in Germany.
Roy served in the Infantry Counter Intelligence Corp during World War II in France, Belgium, and Germany. After his military service Roy was employed at the Lufkin Rule Company in Saginaw in a supervisory position, and later at the Lutheran Homes of Michigan as President and CEO.
He enjoyed spending time traveling, hunting, restoring vintage tractors, gardening, and spending time at his and Lois' cottage at Sugar Springs.
Roy was a member and president of Frankenmuth Rotary and St. Lorenz Lutheran Laymen's League, member and Commander of American Legion Post 150, and member of VFW Post 2725, the Frankenmuth Conservation Club, and the Frankenmuth Historical Association.
Surviving besides his wife Lois are their children: Mark (Debbie) Eischer, Dr. Kurt (Sally) Eischer, Louann (Jim) Scherzer, and Karen (David) Dierking; nine grandchildren Elizabeth (Andrew) Bradley, Sarah Eischer, John Eischer, Kenton Scherzer, Zak (Addison) Scherzer, Aaron and Ryan Dierking, Ruth (Jason) Guy, and Claire (Horatio) Babcock; three great grandchildren Austin Bradley, Clark Guy, and Eli Scherzer; brother-in-law Edward (Eunice) Kern.
Roy was predeceased by his parents, William and Hedwig (Rodammer) Eischer.
Funeral services will take place on Monday, August 23, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Lorenz Lutheran Church, 1030 W. Tuscola, Frankenmuth, Michigan. The service will be livestreamed at stlorenz.org/stream . Rev. Joel Kaiser will officiate with a private family committal to follow. Friends may visit Roy at church from 10:00 a.m. to 10:50 a.m. where the family will not be present. In lieu of flowers, those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to Lutheran Hour Ministries, St. Louis Missouri Wellspring Lutheran Services, or Wellspring Hospice.
