Russ Ahejew

Frankenmuth, MI

Loving husband and father of three children passed away Thursday, November 12, 2020; age 75 years. Russ was born on April 8, 1945 in Germany and came to the United States as a young boy. Russ realized his dream of becoming an American Citizen in 1977, but he was always proud of his Russian heritage. After graduating from Buena Vista High School, he took a job with Saginaw Steering Gear where he worked his entire life. On September 20, 1969, he married Augusta "Dolly" Fritz. They raised one daughter, Maria, and two sons, Gregory, and Paul.

Russ was always willing to help anyone with his time or resources. He spent many years farming with his brothers. In his spare time, he enjoyed gardening and tinkering around the house. He was always proud of his tomatoes and garlic. He also had a love of Rottweilers and raised several during retirement. Russ also enjoyed listening to classical music.

Russ is survived by his wife Dolly, his three children and their spouses, Maria (Doug) Coates, Gregory (Megan) and Paul (Tina), three grandchildren Jacob, Isabella and Giovanni. He is also survived by his two brothers Pete (Sandy) and Alex (Nancy) and several nieces and nephews including Pete, Debbie and Steven.

Russ was preceded in death by his father Andrej Ahejew, his mother Efrosinia Dvortsky Ahejew, and his brother Gregory Ahejew.

Private funeral services will take place at St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church, 4970 Mackinaw Rd. Saginaw, MI 48603. Fr. Timothy Cook will officiate with burial in Forest Lawn. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church.
