Russell
Andrews
Sep 26, 1943 — Feb 23, 2025
Russell Andrews September 26, 1943– February 23, 2025
Russell "Russ" Andrews, 81, of Frankenmuth, Michigan, passed away peacefully at Brian's House on February 23 with his wife, Tamie, at his side.
Russ was born on September 26, 1943, and was a proud member of the Birch Run High School Class of 1962. His dedication to his work and community left an indelible mark on all who knew him.
Russ served his country with honor as a U.S. Marine Corps. Reserve from 1965 to 1971. He rarely went a day without donning his beloved Marine Corps hat, a symbol of his enduring pride in his service.
Along with his military service, Russ had a 40-year career with CSX Transportation, where his hard work and reliability earned him the respect of colleagues and friends alike.
A man of faith and community spirit, Russ was a dedicated volunteer for St. Lorenz Lutheran Church in Frankenmuth, serving as a "Willing Worker" for many years. He also found time to contribute to his community through various organizations, including the Moose International—Birch Run #2426 and the Frankenmuth Athletic Association, where he served as president, and Richville Conservation Club.
Russ's mornings often began at the Frankenmuth Burger King, where he was a proud member of the "breakfast club." There, surrounded by friends, he found his daily dose of coffee, local happenings and laughs. Known for his ingenuity and resourcefulness, Russ had a knack for fixing just about anything—or knowing the right person who could.
Two places Russ loved were the U.P and his hunting trips with the guys and Aloha State Park where family and friends were plentiful.
Above all, Russ will be remembered for his kind heart, integrity, and the countless lives he touched through his service, friendship, and unwavering loyalty.
Along with his wife, Tamie, of 58 years, Russ' legacy includes his 4 children - Jerry Andrews, Sandi (Jerry) Mose, John (Heather) Andrews and Jay Andrews. Russ loved and adored his 7 grandchildren, Megan (Gregg) Gugel, Jared (Kaitlyn) Mose, Halia and Emilee Andrews, Jake, Zak and Addison Andrews and 3 great-grandchildren - Elliott and Dylan Gugel and Lili Mose.
Russ is also survived by his sister Rosemary Firmingham, his sister-in-law Sherry (Bill) Hendley and brother-in-law Todd (Jo) Brodowski, many nieces and nephews and a wide circle of friends who will deeply miss his steady presence and spirit.
Russ was greeted at heaven's gates by his parents Charles and Mary Andrews, his in-laws Frank and Shirley Brodowski and his two brothers Roy and Robert Andrews, where they likely are already in deep debate over who is the better-looking Andrews.
Memorial Service will take place on Thursday, February 27, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Lorenz Lutheran Church, 1030 W. Tuscola, Frankenmuth, Michigan. Private burial will take place. Russ' family will receive visitors at Cederberg Funeral Home of Frankenmuth, 590 N. Franklin St. on Wednesday from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. and Thursday at the church from 10:00 a.m. until time of service.
