Ruth Eva (Loesel) Maurer peacefully joined her Savior on Wednesday, April 29th, 2026 at the age of 92 years. She was born September 7, 1933 to the late Walter and Laura (Bender) Loesel in Frankenmuth, MI. She was born again as a child of God on September 17, 1933. After instruction in the Christian doctrine, she was confirmed on March 21, 1948, her confirmation verse was 1 Timothy 6:12. She was married to the late, Harold J. Maurer on August 15, 1952.

Ruth enjoyed playing euchre at the Rock and was active in a couple Pinochle clubs a month. She also loved to scrapbook and has set well over 600 puzzles and scrapbooked photos of them. Ruth also loved to go deep sea fishing in Florida. She also enjoyed bowling, and spending time in her garden in her younger years and always enjoyed bird watching. Ruth was the great-granddaughter of Lorenz Loesel who immigrated from Germany in 1845 to establish a mission colony in Frankenmuth at St. Lorenz. She was a member of St. Lorenz Lutheran Church and served on various church activities such as the St. Lorenz funeral luncheon as chairman for 30 years. She was a member of the Lutheran Women’s Mission League and volunteered with the Bethesda Thrift Shop for over 30 years. She also drove a Care-A-Van (an elderly shuttle service). Ruth was faithful in donating blood and has donated over 13 gallons.

Surviving are 4 sons Daniel (Bonnie) Maurer of Birch Run MI, Paul (Chris) Maurer of Titusville FL, Ernest (Diane) Maurer of Vassar, MI, Kenneth (Lynn) Maurer of Frankenmuth, MI; 8 grandchildren Joshua Maurer, Joseph (Kate) Maurer, Matthew (Stephanie) Maurer, Andrew (Erica) Maurer. Dr. Laura Maurer (Andrew Burr), Paige (Ben) Smith, Alex Maurer and Faith (Doyle) Webb, also 10 great-grandchildren and another on the way. One sister, Lorine Maurer, sisters-in-law Eleanor Krafft, and Marie Maurer and Claudia Maurer, and many nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by husband, Harold, her infant son Thomas, grandson Jacob Maurer, brother Alvin (Mary) Loesel, brothers-in-law Hilton (Lillias) Maurer, Harlan Maurer and Harvey Maurer, Waldo (Bernice) Roedel, Harold Krafft, and Junior Maurer.

Funeral Service will take place on Tuesday, May 5, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Lorenz Lutheran Church, 1030 W. Tuscola, Frankenmuth, Michigan. Ruth’s family will receive visitors at Cederberg Funeral Home of Frankenmuth, 590 N. Franklin St. on Monday from 2:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and Tuesday at the church from 10:00 a.m. until time of service. In lieu, of flowers those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to St. Lorenz Student Aid Fund or LWML.
