Shawn Marie Hacker

Frankenmuth, MI

Passed away 21st of September, 2024 at home after a 2-year battle with cancer surrounded by her family. Shawn was born on January 26th, 1969 in Saginaw, Michigan. She was raised in Millington, MI and was a 1987 graduate of Millington Community Schools.

Surviving are: Parents Kathleen (Kendall) Leach & Clifford Hacker of Millington, sister Carrie LaRose of Saginaw, half-sister Brittany (Matthew) Powell of Hopkinsville, KY. Three children, Jeffrey (Gina Martinez) Hitsman, BreAnna Hacker and Darrin (Karrie Prudhomme) Frechette Jr. Eight Grandchildren, Sophia Hacker, Lilah & Korbin Hitsman Vayda, Salem, Presley, Bradley & Amarra Frechette. Three Nephews and two great-nephews.

When Shawn was diagnosed with small cell lung cancer in 2022 she was determined to beat this. She researched various clinical trials and other experimental medications and treatments looking forward to having more time with her grandchildren. She "Slayed the Dragon" as she put it while going through Chemo. She put up a good fight.

Shawn chose to donate her body to science in hopes of getting one step closer to a cure.
