Shirley E. Kern

Frankenmuth, MI

Passed away Friday, July 12, 2024 at Wellspring Lutheran Home of Frankenmuth; age 83 years. Shirley Diamond was born on November 3, 1940 to the late Harry and Elsie (Reinert) Diamond. She was married to John Kern on August 21, 1971. He predeceased her on November 25, 2005.

Shirley helped her husband with the honey business, keeping and raising bees and delivering honey. She also volunteered in many capacities including LWML and at St. Lorenz Lutheran School. She was a member of St. Lorenz Lutheran Church.

Surviving are her three children: Patricia Kern, Kathleen (James) Remender, and Matthew (Stacey) Kern, all of Frankenmuth; grandchildren Brittany Garcia, Robert Remender, Tara Kern, Matthew Kern, Ashlee Chema and Zachery Chema; one great-grandchild, Leah Wice; brother Gordon (Earlene) Diamond; brothers-in-law Wallace Kern, Edward (Viola) Kern, and Gilbert (Pam) Kern; and sisters-in-law Charlotte Stow and Karen Shaw.

Besides her husband John, Shirley was preceded in death by two sisters-in-law Janet Diamond and Ann Kern; and a brother-in-law Bill Stow.

Funeral services will take place on Wednesday, July 17, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Lorenz Lutheran Church, 1030 W. Tuscola St. Frankenmuth, MI. Shirley's family will receive visitors at the funeral home on Tuesday from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. and on Wednesday at the church from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.
