Shirley MacGillivray

Frankenmuth, MI

Beloved mother and grandmother passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday May 3, 2023 at Covenant Medical Center Harrison; age 88 years. Shirley was born on September 6, 1934 in Flint, MI to the late Walter and Thelma Mooney. She graduated Grand Blanc High School in 1953 and attended MSU. She was married to Harold "Red" MacGillivray; he predeceased her on October 30, 2009. Shirley worked at Nuechterlein Appliance, Grant's TV and Appliances, and Best Buy, she was an expert in appliances. She was active in the Frankenmuth Bible Church and Montrose United Methodist Church. Shirley was an avid QVC customer. She spent a lot of time with her grandson Duncan. Shirley donated over 10 gallons of blood during her lifetime.

Surviving are two daughters Yvonne (Randy) Roat of Fenton, MI, Carol (Kevin Hines) MacGillivray – Graczyk of Vassar, MI; one son Curtis Penberthy of Reno, NV; four grandchildren Rebecca Roat, Duncan Graczyk, Jayme Penberthy, and Hailee Penberthy; three sisters Yvonne Wismer, Donna Graham, and Sharon Kingsbury, and many nieces and nephews.

Memorial service will take place on Thursday, June 29, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. at Cederberg Funeral Home of Frankenmuth, 590 N. Franklin Street. Rev. Nathan Main will officiate. Cremation has taken place. Shirley's family will receive visitors at the funeral home on Thursday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.
