Entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, May 6, 2025 at University of Michigan Hospital, Ann Arbor; age 82 years. Steven was born on March 25, 1943 in Owosso, MI to the late LeRoy and Leona Beckert. He married Susan Finch on October 3, 1964; she survives him. Steve graduated from the University of Michigan with his master's degree in engineering. He worked for General Motors and EDS until his retirement in 1999. He was a member of Trinity Episcopal Church, Bay City. Steve enjoyed playing bridge and cribbage at the church, he also served as Treasurer. He also enjoyed logic puzzles, fly fishing, golfing and watching professional golf, and watching all U of M sports. Most of all he loved spending time with his family, and playing board games together.
Surviving besides his wife Susan are their 2 children Michael (Leslie Joerke) Beckert of Brighton, MI and Jennifer (Kiyoshi) Urabe of Ann Arbor, MI; grandchildren Madelyn (Zachary) Lang of Milford CT, Andrew Urabe currently residing in Tokyo, Japan; 2 sisters Kathryn "Trink" (John) Hollett of Jacksonville, FL and Barbara White of Owosso, MI, and nieces and nephews.
Funeral service will take place on Saturday, May 10, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. at Trinity Episcopal Church, 815 N. Grant St. Bay City, MI 48708. The Rev. Susan C. Rich will officiate with burial to take place at Rockford Cemetery. Steve's family will receive visitors at Cederberg Funeral Home of Frankenmuth, 590 N. Franklin St. on Friday from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Visitation is also Saturday at the church from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. The service will be livestreamed on Trinity Episcopal Church's Facebook Page and YouTube Channel. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to Trinity Episcopal Church, Bay City.
