Susan L. Grainger, 78

Frankenmuth, MI

Resting in the arms of Jesus, she was carried home January 21, 2025. Susan Kronkowski was born on August 1, 1946 in Saginaw, Michigan to the late Raymond and Audrey (Lucas) Kronkowski. She was the second daughter of 5 girls. The sisters continue through the years to have sister weekends and outings together.

Susan graduated from Frankenmuth High School in 1964, and married her high school sweetheart, Duane Grainger on July 22, 1978. Susan was a hard worker and the queen of multitasking! She was employed at the Saginaw County Courthouse, S&H Farm Stores, managed the Frankenmuth Corner Tavern, Frankenmuth Upholstery Shop, customer service at Bronners, Frankenmuth IGA Administrator, and church secretary at St. John's Lutheran Church. She created beautiful flower beds and garden spaces, but mostly loved spending time with her family and friends. Frequently hosting pool parties all summer long and was always up for an impromptu water balloon fight at High School Rodeos! She was much loved by all who knew her.

Susan is lovingly survived by her husband of 46 years, Duane Grainger; her daughters Bridgett (Elewyn) Pletcher, Heidi (Bill) Auerbach, Holly Grainger Whitlow, and son Richard (Faye) Grainger; grandchildren Chelsea (Nick Maschke) Pletcher, Morgan (Travis) Coenen, Cara Sue Pletcher, Christopher Auerbach, and Daniel (Faith) Keeton; great-grandchildren Elbri Joan Coenen, Wacey Roy Coenen, and Ryker Lee Keeton; sisters Carlotta (Duane) Dinse, Sally Malace, Polly (Birt) McKendree; brother-in-law Keith Grainger; many cousins, nieces, nephews, dear friends and personal nurse and honorary granddaughter Brandi Pletcher.

Susan was reunited in Heaven with her parents Raymond and Audrey Kronkowski, her in-laws LD and Lydia Grainger, sister Cindie (Danny) Herbert, brothers-in-law John Malace and Jerry Grainger, and niece Courtney Herbert.

Her love of the Lord and faith filled life is an uplifting promise that we will be with her again.

Funeral service will take place Saturday, January 25, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at St. John's Lutheran Church, 1200 E. Genesee, Frankenmuth, Michigan.  Rev. Patrick Ernst will officiate. Cremation to follow. Susan's family will receive visitors at Cederberg Funeral Home of Frankenmuth, 590 N. Franklin St. on Friday from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and on Saturday at the church from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.  Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to St. John's Lutheran Church of Frankenmuth.
