Thomas A. Kelly

Frankenmuth, MI

Passed away Wednesday, July 13, 2022, at Wellspring Lutheran Services; age 85 years.  Thomas was born on October 4, 1936 in Olivia, MN to the late Leo and Johanna (Haubrich) Kelly. He graduated from Olivia High School, Olivia, MN in 1954 and from South Dakota State College, Brookings, SD in 1959. He was a member of the Army National Guard and served two years of active duty. Thomas was married to Marie Neid on May 22, 1965 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Sleepy Eye, MN, she survives him.

Tom retired as National Tank Yard Manager from Vlasic Foods in 1995, where he previously spent many years as a Plant Manager. He was a member of Blessed Trinity Catholic Church, where he was an usher and a member of the Men's Club. He enjoyed golfing, turkey hunting, and woodworking. Tom was also a member of the Conservation Club and Michigan Bow Hunters. Together with Marie, he enjoyed spending winters in Gulf Shores, AL. For many years Tom was a medalist in the Senior Olympics for archery. Tom was very patient and loving, and most importantly, he held God and his family close to his heart.

Surviving besides his wife Marie are: two sons Timothy (Lisa) Kelly of Brookline, MA and Jay (Suzanne) Kelly of Gaines, MI; four grandchildren Emerson, Ella, Alyson, and Andrew Kelly; three sisters Mary Stevens, JoAnn Kelly, and Kathleen Elfering; one brother Wm (Kathy) Kelly; two sisters-in-law Kathryn Kelly (John Stahl) and Joyce Neid; and many nieces and nephews.

Thomas was preceded in death by his parents, one brother Robert Kelly; one sister Lavonne Winters; sister-in-law Diana Kelly; and brothers-in-law James Winters, Orville Stevens and Ken Elfering.

Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Friday, July 22, 2022, at 11:00 a.m. at Blessed Trinity Catholic Church, 958 E. Tuscola Rd., Frankenmuth, Michigan.  Fr. Patrick Jankowiak will officiate with inurnment to follow in Blessed Trinity's Columbarium.  Tom's family will receive visitors at Cederberg Funeral Home of Frankenmuth, 590 N. Franklin St. on Thursday from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and at church on Friday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at 11:00 a.m.  There will be a Vigil Service on Thursday at 6:00 p.m. at the funeral home.  Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to Blessed Trinity Catholic Church or a charity of donor's choice.
