Viola Ganschow

Viola Mossner Ganschow was born September 5, 1928 in Richville, Michigan. She was baptized at St. Michael's Lutheran Church and confirmed March 29, 1942. In her early years Viola worked on her parents' farm. She then met the love of her life, Ernest Ganschow in 1953. They married on September 11, 1954 at St. Michael's Lutheran Church, their children, Douglas (Jessie) Ganschow of Montrose, Carrie (Ed) O'Dell of Bridgeport, Jeanne (Chuck) Hitsman of South Carolina; 2 granddaughters Brandi O'Dell and Julia Hitsman, and many nieces and nephews.

Viola was predeceased by daughter Helen Ganschow, and brothers and sisters Donald (Marlene) Mossner, Arnold (Lillian) Mossner, Elmer (Melna) Mossner, Albert (Eleanor) Ganschow, Elmer (Alma) Ganschow, Bill (Alvina) Hetzner, Louis (Ruth) Hetzner, Alvin (June) Falkenberg, and Ralph (Bertha) Robinson.

Viola was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, where she sang in the choir for 40 years and served on it's Altar Guild. She loved gardening vegetables and flowers, along with being a 4H leader. Viola made between 300 and 500 quilts for World Relief and her family. They wintered in Winter Haven Florida for 23 years and sang in the choir there as well. Viola and her husband loved to travel, seeing 49 states, Canada, Iceland, Newfoundland, Mexico, Panama Canal, South America, and taking many cruises. For the past 15 years Viola resided at Winter Village where she served as a greeter for new residents and enjoyed playing cards and bingo.

Funeral Service will take place on Friday, February 7, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. at Immanuel Lutheran Church, 8220 Holland Rd., Frankentrost, MI. Viola's family will receive visitors at Cederberg Funeral Home of Frankenmuth, 590 N. Franklin St. Frankenmuth, on Thursday from 3:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and at the church on Friday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. In lieu of flowers, those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to Covenant VNA Hospice. Viola's family wishes to give a special thank you to Covenant VNA especially Neema, Lisa, and Nicole.
