Walter F. Winkowski

Traverse City, MI and Saginaw, MI

Passed away Sunday, June 26, 2022 at his home; age 82 years.  Walt was born on August 20, 1939 at Saginaw General Hospital in Saginaw, MI to the late Walter and Janette (Kulik) Winkowski. He was employed at General Motors as a skilled trades supervisor until his retirement. After he retired from GM, he became a realtor and sold real estate for Coldwell Banker and Century 21. Walt was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Traverse City. Walt liked to go golfing, boating, fishing, and waterskiing, he also enjoyed cross country skiing and listening to Polka music. He took great pride in his lawn and loved to take care of it -wherever he lived he had the best lawn on the street.

Surviving are his children: Brian (Gayl) Winkowski, Chris (Holly) Winkowski, Christi Nelson, and Walter Powers; 5 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; siblings Joan Briggs, Sue Guidroz, John Winkowski, Mary Ann Wheatly, and Fran Vincent; and many nieces and nephews.

Walt was preceded in death by his sister Barb Lyles and his parents.

According to Walt's wishes, cremation has taken place, and a private family memorial service will take place at a later date. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to the Father Fred Foundation of Traverse City or the Alzheimer's Association.
